Most ranks do nothing, really, but certain milestone ranks unlock new armor or weapon visuals for your units.

So what does Army Level get you? Eye candy. Not to mention doing it for multiple races! This means you will need a whole lot of games to reach that 260,000 points for Army Level 60. As a rough approximation, you can get up to 1,000 points for winning a match and about about half for losing. Initially the steps come every 1,000 points, but gradually increase until at the final ranks you need 10,000 points to advance a level. You get more Army Level points if you win, but you always get some, and your Army Level can never go down. Army Level is not connected to Elo skill rating, which measures actual skill it could be called a multiplayer XP system. Playing multiplayer matches – the "ranked games" accessed under "Find a Game" in the main menu, or public custom matches with all-human teams – award Army Level points to participants. It is the equivalent of Rank in Dawn of War II and Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising. Army Level is an aesthetic online multiplayer feature in Dawn of War II: Retribution.
